Germany

My deepest apologies to all Germans, but whenever I read or hear “Germany,” it immediately calls to mind the Fawlty Towers episode when a German group visits the hotel. Before they arrive he John Cleese character, Basil Fawlty warns his staff, “Don’t mention the war.” After having implanted that in his own mind, Basil can’t help mentioning the war—in the most politically incorrect ways possible.

Nevertheless, I visited Germany. While there, I tried not to think about the war. (I wasn’t born until more than seven years after the end of World War II. Not that that excuses anything.)

Being culturally Jewish introduces another element. But never mind that.

This category is a subcategory of my “Europe” category. In turn, there are subcategories under this one for each city/town I visited in the country.
