Porto

Porto is a beautiful city on a river, by the sea, in northern Portugal. It’s well worth visiting and exploring.

And it’s the home of port wine merchants and cellars. I never knew how much variety there is in port wines until I took a tour of a port wine cellar there. The vineyards that supply the grapes for the various are mostly up the Douro River from Porto. I took a river cruise and visited one of the vineyards.
