If Wikipedia is accurate as of the time of me writing this category description, Batman explored the area that is now Melbourne in its colonial settlement days. I didn’t see any reference to Robin being with him.
To clarify, that was John Batman. I don’t think he was any relation to the real Batman of DC Comics fame. But, relative or not, I must say that I never thought Batman was particularly funny. And I didn’t know the Caped Crusader was based in Washington DC, but, there you have it.
Furthermore, when I say “explored,” I don’t want to give the wrong impression. I don’t mean “explored” as in surveying never-before-seen land. Again according to Wikipedia, aboriginals lived in the Melbourne area for at least 40,000 years.
