Athens

There is so much to see in Athens. Just don’t take the train from the airport to downtown. I didn’t write about this in any of the posts I wrote on Athens, but I took the metro from the airport to my hotel (there was a stop about a block away.) As I tried to get off the train, I was swarmed by a group. I managed to grab and hold onto my wallet just as someone got it about halfway out of my front pocket.

The wallet contained all my cash and credit cards, along with my passport. I didn’t lose anything because my reaction time isn’t bad for a man my age, but it certainly rattled me. A lot.

I did nevertheless enjoy my time in Athens. At the time I wrote this category description, I’ve taken only one trip that included Athens. However, pickpocketing attempt notwithstanding, I’d like to get back sometime. Maybe I already will have by the time you read this.

My “Athens” category is a subcategory of “Greece,” which, in turn, is a subcategory of “Europe.”
