I visited Milan a few times in my life before I got to Bergamo, which its a not too long train ride from Milan. I wish I’d gone sooner. It’s beautiful.
The city has an old upper town that you can reach by funicular. There is also a newer lower town, which is the level with the train station. The upper old town is particularly attractive, with few vehicles and lots of charming pedestrian streets. And, of course there’s the old architecture.
