Sydney Travel Journal

I wrote this category description before leaving for the trip that took me to Sydney, Australia. I have the feeling that it’s going to be weird for me to be there. It’s not that I expect the city to be weird. I have no expectations with that regard.

It’s just that my father’s name was Sydney, spelled that way. He never visited Australia. In fact, unless I’ve forgotten, I don’t think he ever got to that side of the Pacific. He’s been gone now for a few decades, but I still think about him with great fondness. So, I don’t know how I’m going to react when I see his name throughout the city.

But, I do think it will trigger memories of him. Obviously, it already did even before heading to Australia because, well, here’s this category description.

This is a sub-subcategory of “Australia,” which is a subcategory of “Australasia.”
