Matera

This category contains any and all of my journal entries on the wonderful and amazing gorge-side city of Matera, Italy.

I give particular attention to the city’s “sassi,” sections of the old part of the city built in to the rock sides of the gorge.

There are old cave dwellings there. They were abandoned only in the 1950s, but have been revived in the last 30 years or so. It’s an amazing place.

I encourage you to read my posts.
