Universities are institutions of higher learning. This is a travel blog. So, you might ask, why the heck does it have a “university” tag.

I cannot begin to tell you how utterly thrilled I am that you asked that question. It gives me a chance to answer it and, in doing so, pad this tag description page to a length that search engines like to see.

For a variety of reasons, some universities are worthy of a visit by tourists even if those tourists haven’t and don’t intend to study there. If I know that’s the case with a university in a city or town I visit, then I often go take a look. And, when I write about it, I try to remember to flag the relevant journal entry with the ‘university” tag.
