Tag: Art Gallery Travel Journal

My experience in Europe is that many of what I call art galleries call themselves museums. I don’t promise complete consistency, but if I think of them as art galleries, I usually put an “art gallery” tag on the posts describing them.

To me, if it displays paintings, photographs, sculptures, or other pieces that are primarily artistic, not otherwise functional, it’s an art gallery. And, in my lexicon, if it displays old artifiqats that don’t fit the description in the preceding paragraph, it’s a museum. Those are the rules. My journal, my rules.

That being said, if it calls itself a museum, I might forget to add the “art gallery” tag even if I consider it to be one. So, if you want to read about all of the art galleries I visited, you might want to scan through the museum tag too.

Then again, art isn’t my thing. At all. I like pretty pictures, but my tastes probably differ from art aficionados. And by “probably,” I mean “definitely.”

So spending too much time going through my museum and art gallery tags might bore the heck out of you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
