I don’t think there is a city or town in the world that doesn’t have at least a statue or two that the locals think is significant for one reason or another. That reason might be beauty, historical significance, quirkiness, or something else. But I think every municipality has at least one. If you know of an exception please feel free to keep that information to yourself because why would I care about nothingness?

Note that I said “the locals think.” Whether the wider world agrees with them about their statue or statues is another question altogether.

Then, there’s my opinion. It’s totally worthless. I’m a cultural philistine with little sense of history. Nevertheless, I sometimes feel the desire to discuss here statues I see on my travels. If I do, I try to remember to flag them with the “statue” tag, which will create a link on this page to the relevant entry.
